Trieste Film Festival

“Lala” unashamedly mirrors the codes of fiction and those of the documentary in an original exercise of proximity to life that is at times twisted and irregular. It is precisely this non-conformity that makes Ludovica Fales’ film valuable and allows it to activate our gaze as spectators in an unexpected way.

A short but intense sequence that captures the viewer’s soul through profound glances and paints a conflicting paternal relationship in a gripping climax, in the silence of the abuse that too often drowns in the sea.

When East Meets West and Trieste Film Festival are proud to present the second edition of This is IT, a competition exclusively dedicated to long feature fiction films hybrid works with a strong visual and artistic approach produced or co-produced by Italian producers. Selected teams will have the chance to present their works and screen 10′ of their films to an exclusive panel of more than 30 international sales agents, festival programmers and buyers. This is IT will select up to 5 long feature fiction films and an international jury will deliver the LASER FILM Award, a special in kind prize consisting in the colour grading of one film (40 hours of work, technician included) of the value of approximately 10.000 EUR

Feature-length film Audience Award.

The CEI Award (Central European Initiative), for the film which best interprets contemporary reality and the dialogue between cultures, (3,000 euros) goes to FATHER di Srdan Golubovic.

The PAG Jury Award (Progetto Area Giovani of the Municipality of Trieste), awarded by a jury of young people aged between 18 and 35, representatives of youth associations.

The main purpose is to create a unique showcase of high quality Italian independent cinema where selected teams have the chance to present their works and screen their films to an exclusive panel of more than 30 international sales agents, festival programmers and buyers.

An international jury delivers a special in kind prize of the value of approximately 10.000 EUR.
Thanks to the partnership with Milano Film Network (MFN), all films submitted to “L’Atelier MFN” and to “This is IT” will be shared and considered by both selection committees. The main goal is to offer a dual opportunity to all Italian producers, fostering their chances to attract distribution partners on a national and international level.
