Igor Šterk directed his first feature film Express, Express in 1997. It received 15 international awards, including 2 grand-prix for the best feature film (Montpellier, Trieste). The film had successful cinema distribution in Germany and very positive review in Variety. Ljubljana (2002) had an international premiere at the Rotterdam Film Festival in the main Tiger Award competition section. The film was sold to Netherlands’ TV station VPRO. Tuning (2005) had a world premiere in the main competition at Karlovy Vary Film Festival and it received a grand-prix for the best feature film at Mannheim-Heidelberg film festival. His short film Every Breath You Take (2008) was selected for the competition section at Venice Film Festival. 9:06 (2009) has been shown in more than 30 international film festivals, including Karlovy Vary East-West competition. It received great reviews in Variety and Hollywood Reporter. British film critic Nick Roddick selected 9:06 as one of his top five movies of the year. Come Along (2016) is a coming-of-age film which had a world premiere in the main competition at Cinekid in Amsterdam, one of the most important children film festivals in the world. The film received a special MDR jury prize in Schlingel, the most visible German film festival for children’s films. His latest feature film is Lunatic (2023), an autobiographical story about his family and his father who became the first Slovene to sail alone around the world in a sailing boat only 6.5 metres long.

Art kino mreža Slovenije podeljuje nagrado filmu, ki se spretno poigrava s konceptom grozljivega domačega in nas hkrati kliče nazaj k svobodi v čas brez pametnih telefonov, ko so imele besede toplino glasu, prijateljstvo pa je je veljalo za najvišje/največje zavezništvo.
