In a unique way, Martin Turk’s documentary explores the relatively unknown passion of James Joyce and a group of enthusiasts from Trieste who, with the Volta Cinema, laid the foundations of Slovenian film exhibition. Through the process of making a theatre play, we get to know the people from a century ago and the multinational character of the city by the bay, which is still reflected today not only in cinema, but also in the here and now.
Don’t Forget to Breathe pulls us into a story of two young brothers that find themselves at a turning point. The reason why the director Martin Turk ventured into the youth film genre was to take a story for youngsters to a higher level and make it an auteur film. This was a successful attempt. In many aspects of filmmaking, Don’t Forget to Breathe is a perfectly complete film which the jury had no trouble recognising as the best film in this year’s selection of feature-length fiction films.
S pridihom italijanskega neorealizma izpove zgodbo bosanskega vsakdana mlade družine v stiski in očeta, ki išče delo, a ga najde šele, ko pristane v zaporu. Režiser z občutljivo in pricizno režijo in z vodenjem odlične mednarodne filmske ekipe ustvari human film tenkočutnih občutij, visoke morale in etike.

Soba 408 je senzibilna pripoved o odločitvah v odnosih dveh parov. Turk je v svoji narativnosti nepredvidljiv. In hkrati neizprosen.
