Maja Doroteja Prelog

Filmska režiserka in scenaristka Maja Doroteja Prelog prejme Župančičevo nagrado za celovečerni dokumentarni film Cent’anni (2024), ki je z drznostjo in izrazno globino pretresel slovenski in mednarodni filmski prostor. Film, ki je nastal kot pripoved o okrevanju po hudi bolezni, se postopoma preobrazi v osebno in bolečo samorefleksijo o razpadu partnerskega odnosa. S kamero, ki se brez olepšav obrača tudi k lastni ranljivosti, ustvari redko iskreno, poetično in tematsko kompleksno delo, ki presega meje žanra in odpira prostor za globok razmislek o ljubezni, identiteti, skrbi in mejah samopozabe. Cent’anni je požel številne nagrade, med drugim vesni za montažo in posebne dosežke, nagrado FIPRESCI, nagrado občinstva v Trstu ter nagrado za spodbujanje spolne enakopravnosti na Sarajevskem filmskem festivalu. Za izjemno režijo je Maja Doroteja Prelog prejela tudi nagrado Štigličev pogled Društva slovenskih režiserjev in režiserk. V preteklosti se je uveljavila tudi kot avtorica eksperimentalnih filmov in soustanoviteljica intermedijskega kolektiva RA.

In this intimate documentary diary, which dissects the dynamics of a romantic relationship, the film itself becomes a protagonist. When in the midst of vast landscapes, we find ourselves in the tight grip of emotions, the frame and a Zastava 750, questions about the relationship between documentary and fiction, the real and the fictional, what we see and what remains hidden, are raised in new and unexpected ways.

Special award for promoting gender equality. The monetary prize in the amount of €7,500 is sponsored by Mastercard.

Our Vesna for Special Achievement goes to Maja Doroteja Prelog’s Cent’anni for the bravery of its narrative. Without inhibitions, the film shows an intimate relationship that develops through the unpredictable twists and turns of life. A film becomes a relationship, and a relationship becomes a film.

For its architectural aesthetics accompanied by a peculiar soundscape leaving the audience in a timeless space, the best Slovenian Award goes to 2045 by Maja Prelog and Blaž Murn.
