Good Luck, Film!

The central celebration of the 120th anniversary of cinema in Slovenia took place from July 5-8 on the idyllic locations of Lake Jasna and Ljudski Dom in Kranjska Gora. The event named Good Luck, Film! enjoyed the support of the Slovenian Film Centre, Slovenian Cinematheque, Slovenian Ministry of Culture and Slovenian Archive, as well as the RTV Slovenia and the municipality of Kranjska Gora and its tourism office.

Five films were screened. The first one was Jože Gale’s Kekec (1951), from the newly digitally restored copy. The restoration project was led by the SFC. Among the officials from the municipality and the Ministry of Culture, as well as the heads of the SFC and the Cinematheque, the actress Zdenka Logar Povšič, who, as a child, played the role of Mojca, was also present. The next day, the Kekec sequel, Good Luck, Kekec! (Jože Gale, 1963) was on the programme. The print was also digitally restored and the Slovenian Cinematheque led the project. The third day brought a very special event: the screening of the first Slovenian feature-length documentary, In the Realm of Goldenhorn (Janko Ravnik, 1931) accompanied by a live quartet led by the pianist and composer Andrej Goričar. The last day was reserved for back-to-back screenings of the recent hits, Miha Hočevar’s Going Our Way (2010) and its sequel (2013), also directed by Hočevar.
