Synopsis
On the remote peaks of Sinjajevina, the largest pastureland in the Balkans, a mother and daughter proudly defend their mountain and their nomadic herding tradition against the establishment of a NATO military training ground. The two are bound by an extraordinary love and by bitter memories.

Our film is an ambitious auteur project, born out of activism, which gave it its ethical framework. Global visibility enables a broad discussion of the themes linking Gara's and Nada's stories: militarization, ecology and (the lack of) women's rights.

This visually and emotionally stunning film transported us to a remote mountain top and into the most intimate moments of a family fighting to protect not only their land, but their way of life. The truest example of the power of cinema to make the personal political.
With astonishingly epic cinematography this touching portrait of two extraordinary women and a disappearing way of life enchanted us. Tied together by a traumatic past their struggle to save the mountain was an unforgettable journey.
