Synopsis
Talented Painter from Šiška.
Hinko Smrekar earned a reputation as an eccentric among his neighbors and in the broader Ljubljana community. The renowned caricaturist and painter was also known for his Villa Kurnik, which was not actually a typical villa but rather resembled a chicken coop. During his walks, he liked to stroll in his bathrobe, and in village taverns, he would make fun of authorities of all kinds. However, this ultimately led to his tragic fate, as there was no room for diverse opinions in fascist-occupied Ljubljana. The Italians arrested him, and no one knows if they knew who they were taking to a gravel pit that day, where they shot him.

Director's statement
Put away your yawns, this isn’t a history show: Zgodbe s prepiha is first and foremost an ambitious magical realist mini-series about the problems and situations we entangle ourselves in today. It’s a series about the beasts lurking inside you and me, hiding in the confusion of the modern world.
