Synopsis
The sequel to the hugely popular book and film, Let Him Be a Basketball Player 2 features new humorous adventures of Ranta, a boy so tall he could be tying ties to giraffes. Everything seems to be going well for him until his easy, early summer weeks are shaken up by unanticipated schoolwork, troubles on the romantic front, and problems in basketball. Ranta will need to figure some things out by himself and do some growing up.

Ob taki mladini se nam ni treba bati za našo prihodnost, je dejal Gajin soigralec v filmu Košarkar naj bo 2. Gaja Filač je pravzaprav že prekaljena igralka mlajše generacije. Zasijala je na odru, tv serijah in na filmu. Ne samo doma, kalila se je tudi na tujih teve ekranih. »Če je moja domišljija otrok, potem je oder zanjo otroško igrišče, kamera pa sladica po kosilu. Dva popolnoma različna svetova. Ne bi izbirala. Le zakaj bi, ko pa lahko grem po igranju na igrišču na sladico,« je v intervjuju povzela vse dosedanje igralske izkušnje.
Gojmir Lešnjak approaches his role very seriously despite this being a genre film, and although this frame of reference could easily push him too far, Lešnjak always stops just before this happens, administering gags with disciplined precision. Even if this is a supporting role, Lešnjak compellingly conjures up the entire array of emotions from malice and vengefulness to affection for the main characters, demonstrating once more that there are no big or small roles.

Nadaljevanje filma v katerem je leni in zaspani prehitro zrasli fant postal uspešen košarkar, pripoveduje o tem, kako je postal tudi dober učenec in da se s trdim delom in zavzetostjo lahko doseže vse.
V režijskem konceptu režiser predstavi teme, ki se prepletajo v filmu. Od izzivov odraščanja, otroške razigranosti, prvega ljubezenskega čustvovanja do športne zgodbe z mnogimi dramatičnimi in komičnimi elementi. Iz predloženih materialov je razvidno, da ima režiser veliko izkušenj tako z mladimi igralci kot s tehnično in avtorsko ekipo, ki jo je spoznal na prejšnjem filmu Košarkar naj bo, kjer je sodeloval kot asistent režije in režiser prizorov košarkaške tekme. Zaradi vsega tega in njegove senzibilnosti ima režiser potencial, da iz obstoječega scenarija in že na pol odraslih igralcev naredi gledljiv film za osnovnošolce.
