The infant mortality rate in the maternity ward of a hospital increases suspiciously - allegedly due to an unknown pulmonary disease. When Doctor Barbara decides to inform the public of this tragic phenomenon, a number of the doctors, including the hospital management, try to prevent her. At the same time, the atmosphere in general becomes strained - to the extent that the authorities prohibit the publication of a students' magazine containing a controversial article on the occurrences in the hospital. Barbara continues with her investigation, while the hospital attempts to solve the mystery with the help of a new computer programme. Will Barbara succeed in her efforts and will modern technology help expose what seems to be a plot and calm the state of emergency that has developed?
