Vasko and Jana have been killed in a car accident; Aleks is in the hospital. Dan travels to Germany. In the hospital, Aleks doesn't recognize his granddad. He’s lost his memory in the accident, and the doctors think he may never recover. He starts playing backgammon with his grandson. As he teaches him the secrets of the game, he also imparts his ideas about life: how to overcome despair and weariness; how to take destiny into your own hands.
