Synopsis

An elderly couple, once passionate dancers, face the nearing end of their shared journey as she battles an incurable illness. When she decides to pursue assisted suicide, their story unfolds as an intimate portrayal of love, loss, and acceptance—her search for peace mirrored by his struggle to let go.

Alenka and Marijan have shared forty years together in their peaceful home on the edge of a forest. Once inseparable on the dance floor, they still find strength and joy in music and movement. Now in his eighties, Marijan remains active, while Alenka, seventeen years younger, suffers from Morquio syndrome—an incurable illness that slowly weakens her body. After years of surgeries and perseverance, Alenka’s condition worsens, and she decides to prepare documents for assisted suicide in Switzerland, hoping also to spark public debate on euthanasia in Slovenia. Four years later, unable to bear the pain, Alenka and Marijan leave their home hand in hand and travel to Switzerland.
