The film presents a middle-aged sailor’s story, who in the delicate period of life finds himself in crisis. The central hero, Maks Čok is latent alcoholic and therefore professionally no more reliable. On the ship he’s advised not to sail any longer and he’s obliged to disembark the ship prematurely when they arrive in home harbour. The sailor on the land tries to build up the firm foundation for the next start in life. But with a cormorant in the cage on his back and the occasional girlfriend by the hand, he makes more a ridiculous figure out of himself than an integrated person seeking a full existence. By the power of alcohol Maks is unconsciously drawn into the whirlpool. Exhausted he finally resigns, subdued by his own helplessness.
