On 7 November, the shooting of a new feature film by the screenwriter and director Damjan Kozole, titled 20 Metres, started in Piran. The director stated: “The story is inspired by the novel Crime and Punishment. In a town where everyone knows everything, the protagonist faces a dark secret and her own conscience.”
Starring the Sarajevo actress Maja Izetbegović, Croatian star Goran Bogdan and debutants Kim Radovac and Ajda Opara. Also featuring Saša Tabaković, Nina Valič, Valter Dragon and many inhabitants of Piran.
The film was co-written by the director’s frequent collaborator Ognjen Sviličić. The production was financially supported by the Slovenian Film Centre, Film Centre Serbia, and the Creative Europe – MEDIA Programme.
Damjan Kozole is one of the most successful Slovenian directors, whose films regularly qualify for the most prestigious film festivals. Kozole’s most recent project was the film Pero (2023), dedicated to his late friend and actor Peter Musevski. The film premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival and received the Vesna Award for Special Achievements at the Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož last year.
