A documentary about Marica Nadlišek Bartol, a writer, translator, and editor of Slovenka, the first Slovenian women’s newspaper. She was born into a family of proud Slovenians in Trieste. After WWI, the Slovenian community in Trieste mistakenly expected to be welcomed in the new country with open arms. Her family had to move to Yugoslavia. Despite her education, worldliness, and knowledge of languages, Nadlišek Bartol was forced to yield to the then social norms. As a married woman, she could no longer teach; she also stopped writing. She gave up her position as the editor of Slovenka, becoming a wife and mother.
