Synopsis
The film begins with what seems to be a rather trivial premise: people's attachment to a beer brand, often compared to loyalty to a football club or even a religion. The divide between Union and Laško shaped identities and allegiances. Yet Brewers' War reveals how this sense of belonging became an ideal tool for advancing economic and political interests.

One of the film's central themes is the question of the national interest, which is revealed to be one of the most abused concepts of the post-socialist transition period. Little remains of the work, expertise, and financial investments of generations of people.
