Synopsis
When Elena, the black sheep of the family, returns from Italy to stop her younger sister Mira’s wedding, convinced it is forced due to her pregnancy, her path crosses with that of a tourist, Rolanda. A poetic thriller about three women whose lives collide in an off-season borderland, where the line between right and wrong becomes dangerously blurred.

The Happiest Day is rooted in the borderland between Italy and Slovenia, where political and personal boundaries intersect. Through three women, I explore sisterhood as a complex dynamic of alliance and complicity, shaped by family, class, and social expectations. Structured over a single day with elements of a poetic thriller, the film examines violence, responsibility, and the necessity of female solidarity within patriarchal social structures.

Novi celovečerni projekt Najsrečnejši dan, režiserke in scenaristke Sonje Prosenc, skozi perspektivo treh žensk raziskuje teme svobode, odgovornosti in družbenih pritiskov. Dogajanje, ki je postavljeno na opuščeno italijansko plažo in v slovensko mestece, prepleta naturalistično atmosfero z elementi psihološke drame ter ustvarja prostor, kjer se meje med intimnim in političnim, med prav in narobe, nevarno zabrišejo. Scenarij ima jasno zgrajeno strukturo in izrazit tematski naboj – odpira vprašanja ženskega telesa kot prostora družbene kontrole, kompleksnosti sestrskih vezi ter osebne odgovornosti v ekstremnih okoliščinah. Dejstvo, da se osrednji dramatični dogodek, ki dokončno poveže vse tri glavne like, zgodi razmeroma pozno v zgodbi, bi lahko nekoliko upočasnjevalo narativni ritem in zmanjšalo gledalčevo vpetost v dogajanje. Projekt ima jasno prepoznavno vrednost tudi v širšem mednarodnem prostoru. Tema nadzora, telesne avtonomije in notranjega boja presega lokalni kontekst ter film umešča v aktualni evropski diskurz.
