This is a narrative of the entwined fates of two wellborn Slovenes at the beginning of the century. Upon meeting again in the Viennese Parliament after several years, the delegate Andrej and Councillor Pavle reminisce about the bitter-sweet experiences they had years ago with two fatal women, who stirred up hatred between them and almost ruined their lives. The man who had brought Andrej and Pavle to the manor house where they met the two femme fatales, regretting his past decision to do so, now attempts to bring about a reconciliation between the two men. Yet all the while, the three of them wonder whether time has truly been enough to heal the painful wounds of their experiences.
