Scent of Jazz is a story about the beginnings of Slovenian jazz and times that are now gone. The first scent of jazz here can be traced back to the optimistic 1920's, and up to the beginning of the Second World War, as the scent grew stronger, it seemed that jazz, under the name of swing, would become popular among the Slovenians, as well. But during the war, progress was cut short; as a harbinger of Western power, it was suppressed first by the occupying forces and then by the new regime. Radio Ljubljana, which became the centre of the jazz scene in Slovenia, and the musicians under its wing, who captivated mostly younger audiences, were the driving force of Slovenian jazz.
