The Slovenian Film Centre in cooperation with the Slovenian Film Database traditionally presents the creativity of Slovenian female filmmakers with a special screening on Women's Day.
Between March 7 and 9, we invite you to watch seven films. This year, we are paying special attention to female editors who have had a significant impact on Slovenian film from its beginnings to the present day.
In light of this event, The Association of Post-Production Artists' Society wrote:
The Association of Post-Production Artists' is delighted to highlight the work of women editors in this year's Women's Day celebration. These editors have made significant contributions to shaping Slovenian cinema and have played a crucial role in elevating the profession of film editing through their exceptional work.
Film editing is a process that demands creativity, sensitivity, patience, and a deep love for filmmaking. These qualities shine through in the films featured in our selection.
We are proud to showcase the work of multiple generations. Milka Badjura and Darinka Peršin have left a lasting impact on Slovenian cinema, laying the groundwork for future generations. Additionally, we will screen two short films by renowned Slovenian directors France Štiglic and Mako Sajko.
Ivana Fumić stands out as one of Slovenia's most prolific editors, demonstrating her expertise through numerous collaborations with filmmakers. Her recent work on the short feature film 'How I Learned to Hang Laundry' received acclaim and accolades at international festivals.
Furthermore, we recognize the importance of knowledge transfer. Olga Toni, in addition to her creative endeavors, is dedicated to mentoring new generations of editors. Thanks to her guidance, many Slovenian editors possess the confidence and skills needed to excel in their craft. Sara Gjergek, Olga Michalik, and Saša Škulj are among the talented editors who have benefited from her mentorship and will continue to uphold the standards of excellence in film editing for years to come.
