More:

April 22nd marks the 15th anniversary of Silvan Furlan’s passing. He was one of the key protagonists in envisioning the birth of the Slovenian Cinematheque, where he also served as its first and long-time director. In March and April, the Slovenian Cinematheque was planning to screen Furlan's 10 favourite films from their archive, a selection that belongs to the film history canon, and planned to organize a special round table to discuss Furlan’s dreams, aspirations and achievements. Sadly, due to the global pandemic, the doors of the Silvan Furlan theatre at the Slovenian Cinematheque were closed in mid-March. Cinema, however – just like Silvan – knows no boundaries. The anniversary of Silvan's departure will therefore happen in the virtual world, on the website of the Slovenian Cinematheque and several social networks, where he will be remembered by his friends and colleagues. Between 22nd and 28th April, there will also be a free online screening of Silvan's docu-fiction film The Girl with Marbles (1998), a tale of the first Slovenian film star – Ita Rina.

This event was made possible by the collaboration of the Slovenian Cinematheque, the Slovenian Film Database x Filmoteka and Vertigo, Institute for Cultural Activities.
