This is a very unusual documentary. It deals with an animal that has always been part of Slovenian folklore, tradition and everyday life, the bear. Only after a more detailed look into our contemporary views of the bear do we realize what a completely schizophrenic attitude Slovenians have towards our biggest woodland creature. A teddy bear is still our favourite toy, whereas the real deal is a media inflated export item and an eternal scapegoat for the actual and fabricated deaths of sheep and other economic damage. Farmers, foresters, veterinarians, ecologists and politics participate in the film, each with their own views and arguments for and against bears. Some say there are far too many. Others claim we need to protect them at all costs.
