The story of Jožef Čop and Pavla Jesih, who climbed the central column of Mt. Triglav’s north wall. Čop and Jesih are the main protagonists of pre-war alpinism in Slovenia. Čop, an ironworker from Jesenice, knew Triglav better than anyone. A winner of the most difficult walls and a mountain rescuer, he was very popular among the alpinists of his time, also because of his wit and humour. The climbing achievements of Pavla Jesih ranked her among top Slovene and international alpinists. On 26 June, 1945, fifty-two year-old Jože and forty-four year old Pavla appear beneath the north wall of Triglav after four years of forced inactivity. They enter the German route, cross Črni graben and reach the bottom of Central Column, which was never climbed before. Jože Čop studied this part of the wall for many years. If he doesn’t tackle is now, he never will. The film presents four dramatic days of their climb, which do not end the same way for both of them.
