Katarina is in love with Sergey, their servant who unfortunately likes her money better then her. He assists her in murdering her husband, her father in law and in the killing of her baby. While they are running away, Sergey falls in love with another woman, and she becomes Katarina’s victim, too. And Katarina herself is taken by the river.
