Various personalities are portrayed: a violin player, a general, a soldier, a boy with a balloon, an old noble lady with a dog, a young couple in love. These characters do not meet in place and time, only their similar destinies do: the old general throws away his uniform, the violinist throws his violin into the waves of the river, and it is found on the opposite bank by the boy with the balloon. Nathalie! are melancholic pictures, full of nostalgia for the lost world. Nathalie! is a film about hope. The film is inspired by the painting entitled The Black Pond by Jan Preisler, Czech painter of the early 20th century.
