Elvis Starling is a coming-of-age story exploring relationships with peers and parents, first love and friendship. It is a youth film about a very likable protagonist who is searching for his place both within his family and among his peers.
Today's youth is quite different; they have different interests. I think they're much more mature. The actors in our film are phenomenal - you can talk to them as if they were adults. We work together as equal partners.

Elvis Škorc je med mladimi priljubljen že kot knjižni lik uveljavljene avtorice mladinskih in otroških knjig Janje Vidmar, ker pritegne s pozitivnimi lastnostmi, saj še tako težko situacijo preživi z dobro voljo, kar hitro zagotovi identifikacijski učinek. Družinska situacija ni idealna, pa vendar iz nje potegne najboljše. Avtorica dobro pozna psiho mladostnikov, jo obravnava izvirno, ob tem pa se ne izogiba resnim temam, ki jih predstavi v prepoznavnih situacijah in jih z Elvisom rešuje na človeški, včasih manj in včasih bolj uspešen način.
V liku Elvisa se združujejo lastnosti, ki ga potiskajo naprej, in tiste, ki bi ga lahko ovirale, prav zato je ganljiv, štorast, ob tem posebej nadarjen za kemijo, v vsem skupaj pa zelo človeški. Dodano vrednost pridobi z avtoironijo. Liki so plastično predstavljeni in prepričljivo oblikovani. Dogajanje je dinamično, v njem adekvatno funkcionirajo različne oblike sodobne komunikacijske tehnologije, moti le občasna posplošena delitev na klišejsko ženske in moške vloge.
Film lahko nagovori široko občinstvo, saj bo zabaven in narejen za preprosto življenjsko percepcijo.
