Synopsis

After losing her mother to cancer, Bronja also battles the disease herself. Despite numerous challenges that seem insurmountable, Bronja remains optimistic and overcomes her struggles with inspiring courage, finding hope even in the midst of tears.

"Whites Wash at Ninety" is a touching and inspiring story about the life of Bronja Žakelj, as we follow her through three distinct periods of her life. In her childhood, she enjoys exploring the world with her younger brother Rok and finds comfort in her grandmother Dada. However, her carefree life is shattered when she learns of her mother's death from cancer, which marks the first time she comes face to face with the cruelty of death. As she grows up, Bronja struggles with learning difficulties and becomes more interested in boys. At the end of her teenage years, she is diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, but she manages to overcome the disease with unwavering determination. However, tragedy strikes again when her brother Rok dies in a fatal climbing accident. Despite the pain and heartache, Bronja slowly begins to trust again and finds love with a boy named Blaž. The film ends with the birth of her first child, and we see a happy and content Bronja, finally at peace with her life. "White Wash at Ninety" is based on real-life events and is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. The film chronicles Bronja's journey of growth, healing, and personal transformation, offering hope and inspiration to viewers everywhere.
